"Perfect!"

“Perfect!”

I realised recently just how often I say this word.

I say it when I’m happy about something - it means great, wonderful, so pleased.

I say it when everything is tidy and organised.

I say it when a plan comes together and things slot into place.

I say it SO much!

It comes out when my inner perfectionist is super happy. She loves having everything organised. Lined up. Making sense.

When things are perfect she feels calm and in control, and a tiny bit smug that she has it all sorted.

It’s tricky though.

When I’m using her productively she’s a gift. She’s brilliant at focusing on what’s not working and could be better, spotting the bit that sticks out and needs attention.

When I’m not she can get me very in my head. She really worries that I might make a mistake or get something wrong. It can feel very important to get into unimportant detail.

So I love that I now have an easy way to spot her!

When that word appears I can celebrate the moment of perfection.

When it feels impossible to achieve I can remember to focus on experimenting over and over to find out what works.

I can remember that there’s no failing to be perfect, only winning or learning :-)

What’s a word you say all the time?

What can you learn from it?

And how can you put that learning to good use?

Wishing you all a perfectly imperfect week,
