Do you have a lot going on in your head right now?
I often do.
And so do many of the people I work with.
Lots of different things happening in lots of different parts of our lives, which can get all squished up together into one big tangle.
Too overwhelming to tackle.
What to do?
When I feel like I this often re-read some of my favourite fiction books. It’s comforting, and a way to switch my head off. A recent pick was Philip Pullman’s Book of Dust series.
It hit the spot, with an unexpected bonus - a very helpful tool to manage all of that brain activity.
You simply braindump everything out - onto a page, or to a neutral sounding board.
Then sort through the tangle and divide it into 3 buckets:
Things to do - what you can take action on.
Things to find out - to fill in gaps or answer questions.
Things to stop worrying about - what you can’t control or influence, what you can let go of.
Brilliant.
It reminded me of a tool I’ve used before called the Circle of Control. But simpler.
An easy way of decluttering and organising thoughts, and making the way forward feel more tangible.
Do you have a lot going on in your head right now?
And how could using these 3 headings help you untangle it?
Wishing you all a week of decluttering your brain,
